I have a soft spot for photography made in the world's more visceral places. Davin Ellicson is working on a long term project documenting rural life in Romania where according to his bio he lived and farmed with a peasant family for a year in the Maramures region. He knows the people he's covering and it shows.
Comments:
A completely tangential aside, the past year or so seems to be the time in which I encounter others who not only share my name and also happen to take photographs. It's a strange way of connecting.
Pointless self-reference over.
I'm glad you caught Davin's work, I'm a big fan of his. I first saw it over at Blueeyes Magazine, which has some work not on his web site and pairs some of his photos in way I find more agreeable.
It's hard to find photos from people shooting inside European border cultures that work as well as Davin's.
