I like how he is lined up with his arm out-reaching between the two flag poles.
His other arm is making the gesture that people make when they are hearing the voice of god. Perhaps its genuine? I know it might make me go a little unkempt and a little crazy too...
Great shot. It reminds me of the street preacher I saw while I was in DC. I was looking to see if you were on photoblogs.org. It doesn't look like it. You should consider joining. You could get a lot more exposure of your great photos. Thanks for sharing.
well done.
i've taken a few pics of this guy...he was not very appreciative. did he give you any hassle?

Todd: No hassle I was in stopped at a light in a cab and took one quick frame out the window. The shot took all of one second so I don't think he noticed. He was shouting in German and then speaking in tounges.
I'm glad you've posted a bit of an explanation. I could understand the exuberant body language, but it wasn't quite clear to me what he was actually doing. His right arm seems to be the position of using a cell phone.
Hey I am interning at the building in the background and see this guy everyday. I would love to know his story, but dont want to ask him! He stands in the middle of park ave holding a book (bible??) and clutching his head while he preaches in tongues. I think he's crazy but if anyone knows please let me know.

I really like this shot because everythng in Ãt seems to go upward which I think is a nice perpective and quite apposite considering it is taken in NYC.
The "downside" of this is that I am german too and quite worried what kind of impression Germans tend to give in other countries when they are standing in some public places preaching...this preaching seems to be a big thing among Germans. I saw people like this guy all over the world, doing the exact same thing. It´s odd when you travel places like Russia and find a German preaching at Lake Baikal.
PARK AVENUE LUNATIC
I remember seeing this guy on my way to work each morning. He would yell, gesticulating with his bible, kicking up dirt like he was goose stepping to Hell.

This is just great, great. There's a story behind this, and its central character is very intriguing.
great capture! looks like he's preaching...
a fanatic man or a coincidence?
